The 8th SOLLAB Doctoral Colloquium will be organized by Plataforma Solar de Almería (PSA), a dependency of the Center for Energy, Environment and Technological Research (CIEMAT), is the largest center for research, development and testing of concentrating solar technologies in Europe, depending of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. This event will be celebrated from the 25th to the 26th of June, 2012.

This event will be held at hotel Barceló Cabo de Gata**** which is located in the luxury resort “El Toyo”; right on the beach of the large bay that joins Cabo de Gata to the city of Almería in the well-known Retamar area, very close to the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata. It is 5km from the airport, 15km from the centre of Almería, and 30km from the famous Tabernas Desert.

The 8th SOLLAB Doctoral Colloquium will be part of the European project called SFERA (Solar Facilities for the European Research Area), which is focused on the concentrated solar power. The SFERA European project aims at integrating, coordinating and further focusing scientific collaboration among the leading European research institutions in solar concentrating systems.

As part of the SFERA activities, the 3rd SFERA School will also be organized from the 27th to the 28th of June, 2012, successively to the SOLLAB Colloquium.

Concerning a more general audience, the objective of these lectures is to disseminate results of general interest in the scientific and industrial communities, and towards the general public.
