| Examples of collaboration actions
The Scientific Programme of SOLLAB defines the collaboration
activities. It may be implemented by the following activities:
exchange of scientific and other personnel dedicated to research
and development;
exchange of scientific information;
execution of joint scientific meetings;
planning and implementation of joint programmes and projects;
use of laboratories' facilities.
Three actions are currently in progress:
SOLLAB Doctoral Colloquium
This action aims at training Ph.D students to present their results in
international conferences, at exchanging information about current
research activities in the Alliance of laboratories and at creating
contacts between students. About 40 doctoral students attend each
meeting. A CD of the presentations is edited yearly.
SOLLAB Flux and Temperature Measurement Group
Incident solar flux delivered by concentrating facilities and operating
temperature of the solar receivers/reactors are key parameters
necessary to define the system thermal efficiency, for example.
Consequently, SOLLAB initiates a long term action in order to define
common measurement techniques, protocols and apparatus. The
action has started with the inventory of existing devices and
methods, and with defining common references and calibration
procedures.
SOLLAB High Temperature Receiver Engineering Group
High temperature receivers are key components (with solar
concentrating systems) of solar power and hydrogen production
facilities. The objectives of this action are to propose common
definitions of component performances, to share know-how about
materials and to develop material ageing procedure. This latter topic
is an important issue for improving receiver reliability and lifetime.
