Home

The 12th SOLLAB Doctoral Colloquium was organised by the Plataforma Solar de Almería (PSA), which is part of the Centre for Energy, Environment and Technological Research (CIEMAT) and is the largest centre for research, development and testing of concentrating solar technologies in Europe, dependent on the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain. The colloquium had taken place from the 6th to the 8th of June 2016.

This event was held at “hotel de la Naturaleza Rodalquilar**** Spa Cabo de Gata”, located in the core of the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Níjar in the coast of Almería. This unique setting is well known for its good weather, wild nature and unspoiled beaches. Besides, it is 33.5 km by car from the centre of Almería, and 68 km by car from PSA and the famous Tabernas Desert, where many cinematographic productions have been shot.

The 12th SOLLAB Doctoral Colloquium was celebrated within the frame of the European project called SFERA-II (Solar Facilities for the European Research Area-Second Phase), which is mainly focused on concentrated solar power. SFERA-II European project aims at integrating, coordinating and further focusing scientific collaboration among the leading European research institutions in solar concentrating systems and related industry.

As part of the SFERA-II activities, the 7th SFERA Summer School called “Heat Transfer Fluids & Innovative R+D Subjects”  also had taken place on the 9th and 10th of June 2016. Concerning a more general audience, the objective of these lectures will be to disseminate results of general interest among the scientific and industrial communities.
